With X-Block® no new compressed air is needed for the return stroke. Speed increases can result from the following:
1. No need to re-fill the hoses from valves to negative sides of cylinders (see below).
2. No communication needed between valves and cylinders for return stroke. (Click on Valve for illustration).
3. Speed regulators are used to slow the cylinder at end of stroke, thereby cushioning its impact. However, the air contained in the closed circuit created by X-Block® serves already to cushion the air. (Click on air cushioning for illustration). The largest potential time saving is achieved when the speed regulator on the negative cylinder side is removed.
4. In cases where cylinders are not working to their full capacity because of occasional pressure drops, the inclusion of X-Block® will help as the system's ability to deliver a constant air pressure will improve (less system air required). With fewer air interruptions, the cylinders connected to the device may experience faster speeds.

In a standard cylinder(s) set-up, compressed air pushes from the valve to the cylinder's postive side for the forward stroke. Air again goes from the valve back to the cylinder (negative side) for the return stroke.

With X-Block® there is a constant air pressure (0.5 - 6 bars) on the negative side of cylinder. There is no need to bring new air from the valve/air compressor back to the cylinder for the return stroke as X-Block® has stored it in its internal circuit, which may include an air receiver. Time is saved not having to re-fill the tubes connecting the valve to the return stroke.
